Hatfield Moors - Race Series

Question 1

How old do I need to be to participate?

Accepted Answer

For the Hatfield Moors series you need to be 16 years old to enter any of the races. Dogs must be over 1 year old

Question 2

Can I run with 2 dogs?

Accepted Answer

Definitely!

Yes you are more than welcome to run with 2 dogs.

Question 3

Do I need to run with a dog?

Accepted Answer

Well, we find running much more enjoyable running with a dog and strongly advocate that you do run with one!

However, you are more than welcome to enter and run without a dog, but be prepared to recieve some encouragement to run with your dog in the future. We do have social runs where we welcome begineers to canicross to come and have a go!

Question 4

Do I need to run?

Accepted Answer

We want you to have fun with your dog, there is no pressure to run, you are more than welcome to walk, jog, skip or dance your way around the course!

Question 5

I haven't run with my dog before, can I enter?

Accepted Answer

The short answer is yes!

The longer answer is, it is important that the harness your dog and you run in is comfortable and supports them when they are running. We can help with the fit of the harness on the day, but you may want to attend one of the club social runs where we have a qualified coach available to help for the first couple of runs and getting you all set up.

We won't allow you to run with a poorly fitting or inappropriate equipment.

You will also want to train with your dog, canicross does require some fitness from your dog, you should be going through a training plan with them. They should also be over 1 year old and if you have any doubts consult your vet!

Question 6

Will it be a mass or staggered start?

Accepted Answer

We prefer staggered starts, participants will be set off individually and we request that entrants give each other a bit of space on the lead up to the start.

Please fill in an estimate of your finish time on the race entry as we will use this to order the start line to limit the amount of passing on course.

If you wish to start at the back or with a friend, please let registration know and we will facilitate this where possible.
